Cai Chusheng
蔡楚生Cai Chusheng (1906–1968) was one of the most important directors in the history of Chinese cinema. A protégé of Zheng Zhengqiu, he directed Song of the Fishermen (1934), the first Chinese feature film to win an award at an international film festival. During the War of Resistance he moved between Hong Kong and Chongqing; after the war he co-directed the epic The Spring River Flows East with Zheng Junli. In 1995 he was posthumously honored with the China Film Century Award.

蔡楚生是中国电影史上最重要的导演之一,曾是郑正秋的徒弟。1934年拍摄的《渔光曲》是中国第一部在国际电影节获奖的故事片。抗战期间辗转香港、重庆,战后与郑君里联合导演史诗巨作《一江春水向东流》。1995年获中国电影世纪奖。
