About the Creator
Choy earned a doctorate in film and television at the Central Academy of Drama. His move into fiction did not take him away from the lived geography of Guangdong and Hong Kong; family history and journeys between the two places remain central to his work.
Seven years in the making, Borrowed Time follows a woman who leaves Guangzhou for Hong Kong shortly before her wedding to find the father she has not seen for twenty years. The film screened in New Currents at Busan and Hidden Dragons at Pingyao, with further festival showings in Gothenburg, Rotterdam and Hong Kong.
