Chen Tian
陈天Chen Tian was a pioneer of early Chinese cinema, born in Chaoyang, Guangdong. In 1925 he founded the New Continent Film Company and the Continent Film Acting School in Shanghai, directing films such as Zhen Ai. In 1926 he led the Huaju crew south to Shantou to shoot on location (including White Hibiscus and The Love Slave), receiving enthusiastic help from the local "Jinye White Drama Society" and the young Cai Chusheng — the first filmmaking ever in Shantou. He then founded the Jinye Film Production Company in Shantou and directed Dull Luck, a comedy scripted by Cai Chusheng, released in Shantou — the first film made in the Chaoshan region. After the defeat of the 1927 Revolution, Cai could no longer remain in Shantou; with Chen's help he joined Huaju and went on to Shanghai, eventually becoming a master of Chinese cinema. Chen Tian was the one who led Cai Chusheng into the film world. Chen himself worked as director at the Huaju and Xintian companies in Shanghai, directed the military-themed Gu Jun in 1933 (shot near Suzhou), and moved to Hong Kong in 1937 to direct for the Grandview Film Company, where his representative work was Jin Wu Cang Jiao. He directed his final film, Tao Hua Yun, in 1951.

陈天，广东潮阳人，中国早期电影开拓者，上海华剧影片公司导演。1926年率华剧南下汕头拍摄外景，是汕头第一次拍摄电影；并创办汕头进业电影制片公司，执导拍摄潮汕地区第一部电影《呆运》（蔡楚生编剧）。1937年赴香港发展，任大观影片公司导演。是蔡楚生进入电影界的引路人。
