Zheng Zhengqiu
郑正秋Zheng Zhengqiu was a film director, screenwriter, actor, producer and social activist based in Shanghai.
About the Creator
He received a traditional private-school education and later taught himself drama and journalism.

Further works include Xiannü Jiu Furen (The Heroine Saves the Madam, TBC), Tears and Flowers, Peach Blossom Lake, The Flower of Freedom, Romance in Spring, Twin Sisters, Regenerated Flowers, The Classic for Girls, Rexue Zhonghun and Sing-Song Girl Red Peony.
The Shanghai Municipal Police archives record Zheng Zhengqiu's involvement in efforts to mediate the 1933 Shanghai Power Company strike. An entry dated 18 October states that he represented the Chaochow fellow-countrymen's association and chaired a meeting held the previous evening at the Ningpo fellow-countrymen's association, 480 Thibet Road. Representatives of ten fellow-countrymen's associations and a delegate of the General Labour Union discussed the strike and possible mediation. A separate entry dated 23 October records that he also chaired a meeting on 21 October, describing him in that instance as claiming to represent the Chaochow association.
An entry dated 31 October again records Zheng chairing a meeting of fellow-countrymen's representatives the previous evening. Separately, a press translation dated 1 November reports that a meeting on 30 October resolved to send Zheng and three others to the Shanghai Municipal Council on 2 November to seek an early settlement. These records document his role in chairing meetings and his selection for a proposed delegation; they do not establish that the visit on 2 November took place.
