井迎瑞

Jing Yingrui is a scholar and educator working in film preservation, restoration and archives, with a longstanding involvement in recovering and caring for Taiwan’s film heritage.

About the Creator

After becoming director of the film archive in 1989, Jing joined colleagues in searching film-company storerooms for neglected prints. He approaches these materials as evidence of how films have circulated, deteriorated and survived.

Discussing the restoration of the rediscovered opera film in a 2014 interview, he called for public debate about what should be retained or altered. Keeping a record of every intervention makes the process available for scrutiny and education.

At KwanTeo CineLab 2026, Jing taught the restoration workshop with Wu Yongyi. A visit to the former Shantou Film Company brought participants into contact with film materials, projection equipment and local exhibition history. He also contributed to the discussion on restoration and archival practice.
