潮汕古惑仔：塘埔桥之战Chaoshan Young and Dangerous: The Battle of Tangpu Bridge is a Chaoshan-language action-comedy short made by young filmmakers in Tangpu, Jieyang. Its bridge setting places it among the early films later grouped as The Tale of Heroes from Chaoshan.
About the Work
Made by a group of young people in Tangpu, Chaoshan Young and Dangerous: The Battle of Tangpu Bridge brings local speech and a familiar village setting into a playful take on action-film conventions. Huang Zijia directed the short, with Huang Lanjia among its performers.
Viewers later gathered the film with other Tangpu shorts and circulated them as part of The Tale of Heroes from Chaoshan. Its village setting remains one way into the collection's early filmmaking history.
