About the Work
Toy Factory, a feature project still in preparation, follows two children in Chenghai, Shantou. Liu Le'ang has followed his father there for work; at school, being a newcomer leaves him on the margins. His friendship with Chen Chaonan, whose father owns a toy factory, leads him to their warehouse hideout. Inside, the children try out imagined “boss methods” for coping with their troubles.
When the factory faces a shutdown, their game begins to intersect with their parents' work and the pressures of the adult world.
