Look Back
回头Lin Qiying's short film Look Back follows a young man facing the loss of his father. A cat leads him through memories and towards a promise that still matters after their parting.
About the Work
Look Back is a short drama directed by Lin Qiying. As a young man faces his father's death, a cat draws him between present experience and memories of their relationship. The journey brings back a promise that has not lost its hold on him. The cat on screen was created with CG animation rather than filmed as a live animal.
At a KwanTeo screening in 2026, Lin spoke about a childhood memory of flooding and an experience connected to a funeral home as starting points for the film. He also described roughly three months of rehearsals with the cast. Cai Zhuoxin produced the short.
