About the Work
In the crime comedy directed by Fan Jiawei, a middleman who habitually cuts corners nearly loses his life after a ceremony goes wrong. He then stumbles into a deal built on mistaken identities. An Yingge baton is taken for a gang leader's staff; fraudsters and gang members misread one another as several plans collide.
The man who has treated his friends, work and family carelessly gives up his own advantage to rescue a friend, with an Yingge performance becoming part of the attempt. Teochew, Cantonese and Mandarin run through a crime comedy that also makes room for Chaoshan ancestral halls and Yingge dance.
