Springtime KwanTeo 2016
新春观潮2016KwanTeo held its first screening and discussion of new Chaoshan films at Hanshan Normal University in Chaozhou on 13 February 2016. Six works shared the programme, with conversations and audience questions scheduled between screenings.
About the Topic
The event was billed at the time as a screening and sharing session for new Chaoshan cinema. It took place at the Wei Nan International Conference Centre at Hanshan Normal University, organised by Tingchao, Naore and eMusePictures with support from Hanshan Normal University and Shantou University's Convergent Media Lab. Its documented programme ran from morning into the evening of 13 February.
The six-film selection brought together works by Li Ang, Chen Jianhang, Huang Gang, Chen Gongming and his collaborators, and Guo Jialin, among others. Each screening had a place in a wider day of filmmaker talks and questions. This gathering became the starting point for KwanTeo's continuing programme of Chaoshan film screenings.
