About the Topic
Filmmakers began the day away from the screen, visiting the Qiaopi Museum, the Little Park district, an intangible-heritage display at the Shantou Cultural Centre and the East Coast New Town. Dinner preceded the evening screening and conversation at Hesheng Cinema and the Hesheng Reading Club.
The programme brought together five shorts, including the animation The Coming of Age Ceremony and films by Liang Dehui, Wang Meng, Fang Zebo and Guo Jialin. Hu Lufeng joined the filmmakers for a discussion, followed by questions from the audience. The day linked a visit to the city with an opportunity to encounter the makers and their work.
