四海潮味Chaoshan Flavors Around the World is a documentary series about overseas Teochew families, approached through food and family-run restaurants. It follows migration, everyday relationships and the ways traditions travel and change.
About the Work
The production visited Teochew families in Southeast Asia, Europe and North America. Kitchens and restaurants provide a way into lives shaped by different languages, generations and local cultures. The version broadcast in 2026 consists of fifteen episodes of approximately fifteen minutes each.
Lan Hongchun has described the overseas research as a source of experience for Dear You. Encounters with family letters and remittance records, divided households and hopes of returning home later fed into the characters and story of that fiction film.
The first season of Chaoshan Flavors Around the World began streaming on Tencent Video on 26 January 2026. In August that year, the fifteen-episode series reached television channels in Shantou and Jieyang, bringing these overseas family stories to audiences in Chaoshan.
