Tuo Love
鮀·恋Tuo Love follows Lin Yixin from his school years in Shantou to university in Guangzhou. He remains attached to Liang Mengjie while growing closer to theatre partner Su Xinrui; Su's journey to Shantou brings his life away from home back into contact with the place where he grew up.
About the Work
Tuo Love, a Teochew-language feature directed by Ye Qing, begins in Shantou, where Lin Yixin grows up in a family that runs a small grocery store. He and schoolmate Liang Mengjie are close, but university takes them to different cities. Their letters continue after they leave home.
While studying in Guangzhou, Yixin is cast in a theatre production and spends time rehearsing with Su Xinrui, a student from Suzhou. As their relationship changes, his attachment to Mengjie remains unresolved. Xinrui travels to Shantou to understand the place where he grew up, bringing his life at university and his earlier ties into contact. The film was completed in 2012, with Lan Hongchun as supervising producer.
