KwanTeo Night 2025 — Green Olive Award
观潮之夜2025·青橄榄奖The first Green Olive Award night opened KwanTeo CineLab 2025 at Dream Cinema in Shantou on July 5. Five shorts screened, and the audience chose the award by voting in the room.
About the Topic
KwanTeo CineLab began its 2025 program with a short-film night rather than a lecture or workshop. The selection brought together filmmakers whose works had different connections to Chaoshan, including Lin Qiying's Don't Act, Deng Lianghong's Swimming Lesson, Zhang Yang's Cosmic Interference, Long Miaoyuan's Jinnian Zuo de Cha (Tea Made This Year, TBC), and Wen Baigao's Koi, Koi.
After the screenings, the audience cast votes for the inaugural Green Olive Award. Artist Liu Qingyuan designed the trophy's visual identity. The olive, a familiar fruit in Chaoshan, begins bitter and finishes sweet; that change of taste gave the new award its image of persistence for young filmmakers.
