Midsummer in Teoswa 2024 centered on screenwriting and editing workshops, alongside public talks and screenings. On one evening of that two-week program, KwanTeo Night gathered five shorts in a single cinema session.
The films moved across very different places: a Chaoshan-speaking mother in Paris, a father and son in the sea off Shantou, a boy arriving at a Chaozhou barbershop, and a pig lost in the countryside of Haifeng. A fifth story gave an air conditioner an unexpected emotional weight. Together these scenes made the screening a journey through several ways of living with, leaving, and remembering Chaoshan.
